Salads, Cakes and Yoga!

Wednesday was another busy day at class.

Morning was spent with Chef Griffith on learning about Salads and Dressings. We made 4 different types of salads and also learnt how to make vinaigrettes for them from scratch. Also learnt the principles of making a vinaigrette. This is a topic that is very close to my heart as salads feature heavily in our meals at home and learnt some useful tips like soaking your leafy greens in an ice bath to increase its crispness and chilling your bowl in the fridge to ensure that the salad is not leaching water too soon.

We made Greek Salad, Caesar Salad, Watermelon Feta Salad-in 2 forms (Steak style and Cube style) and Citrus Salad all of which ended up as our lunch:)

Afternoon Class

We spent time baking in the afternoon learning about making a Mawa (a type of Paneer) Eggless Cake and Marble Cake which are commonly known as tea time cakes. Both were fun to make and the results were delicious! We also learn about the importance of presenting your food well when serving it!

Evening

After a busy few days, we decided it was time to get some exercise in and do some stretching so looked up a local yoga centre and went for our first class at The Yoga House. The class was enjoyable but showed me how inflexible I had become while being fit with walking. Plan to attend more sessions here regularly to improve body flexibility and overall wellness.

Of course all this made us hungry and dinner was had at Pali Bhavan a restaurant in our area. This was our first proper dinner since arriving in Mumbai. We had a great roasted baby potato, a root vegetable kofta curry and Chapatis (so so soft) and Garlic Naan (yummy) and finished all this off with a Ras Malai! Restaurant had a nice ambience and even at 9pm was really busy. Of course Indians in India tend to eat dinner late!

Important note to self! Take better photos of the food!!
