A StarStruck Sunday!

Sunday started with an intense but relaxing yoga session followed by a lovely lunch at the nearby Smokehouse Deli-which was on my must try list.

A beautiful grape and citrus salad followed by a delicious smoked eggplant and capsicum ciabatta sandwich. Both were very tasty and got the thumbs up. The Salad class had given me fresh eyes and taste buds to appreciate the salad and observe how the vegetables were cut and the dish presented.

It was then time to take a walk around the neighbourhood and realised that there are some very nteresting dessert shops in the neighbourhood offering both traditional as well as fusion desserts. Did not try them though-could not make up my mind!

What’s India without its bookshops! Did a quick stop at Title Waves, a popular bookshop in Bandra and bought a book that I plan to read while here.

Then it was time to go to another part of the city. We were invited by an acquaintance to visit them in Juhu where they lived. Juhu is one of the main suburbs of Mumbai, close to the beach and also where Amitabh Bachchan (Big B) and many other Bollywood stars live!

Sundays are also when Big B sometimes comes out to greet his fans. As we walked over towards his house, we noticed huge crowds in front of Big B’s house Jalsa which was a clear indication that he would be coming out.

We waited till 5.30 and alas there was no sign of Big B coming out so we sadly moved on. We shall try on another Sunday! We then went to Juhu Beach which is a popular beach with locals!

Filled with picnicking families and street vendors (noticed that even the smallest vendors accept Google Pay!), it was time for some refreshing coconut water. We then walked past Shabana Azmi and Shashi Kapoor’s house and did a quick stop at the famous Prithvi Theatre. Established by Shashi Kapoor it is the premier performing centre with a cafe and bookshop inside too.

It was then time for dinner at our friend’s and it was a lovely evening spent in their apartment. Dinner was a popular Mumbai street food-Pani Puri! All the condiments were homemade and it was a real treat.

That was our Sunday folks and a lovely start to our second week in Mumbai! Have a good week all!
